About Me

My name is Elizabeth Barbara Breyer, hence the initials EBB. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. My South African born mother is fiercely proud of the fact that all three of her children are Texans. Sometime in the mid-90s my parents moved the family to Charlotte, NC where I finished off my last two years of high school. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and spent my junior year studying abroad in Florence, Italy. This European experience served as a stepping stone for my living and working in the global arena. After graduation, I moved to Düsseldorf, Germany where I carved an exciting life for myself spanning five outstanding years. Following my time in Deutschland, I moved to Manhattan for what can only be called, a New York minute. In 2009, the winds of change returned me to my beloved South and I have called the Queen City home ever since.

I proudly hail from a global family of adventuresome, gourmet eaters. Don’t get me wrong, we also engage in plenty of un-epicurean gluttony. We are firm believers in eating, drinking and being merry – no matter where in the world, the company or time of year. This is how I was raised and this is what I know. Travel was also an integral component of my upbringing. It served as a valuable platform by which to learn more about other cultures and ignite interest in foreign languages. Sometime along the way, I picked up two. I have a great passion for eating and cooking. Thanks to my diverse background, I have mastered the former and am persistently developing the latter. The culinary path on which I now find myself began some time ago in our warm and ever so slightly dysfunctional little kitchen. I say “dysfunctional” as we are slowly building our kitchen artillery. All in good time.

I am an avid traveler, both in the professional as well as personal capacities. Magazines documenting gallivants and food are my favored reads of choice. I am at my happiest when perusing the aisles of gastronome grocery stores. I have a special affinity for the beaches of Cape Town, South Africa; Pawley’s Island, South Carolina and Boca Raton, Florida. I love all things German including any opportunity whereby I can speak my second tongue. It should also be noted that I am besotted with my own jokes, live to laugh and have a real gusto for life. I cordially invite you to join in my journey. I promise to infuse this space with stories, humor, my verve and most importantly, recipes that can be created in your very own kitchen. In return, I ask that you please not be a stranger.
